Mantle

Laboratory Procedure Management Platform

Your spaces, your materials and your procedures held in one model — so that a step in a written method points at the actual container on the actual shelf, and every change to either one is recorded.

Chapter 01

Start with where the work happens

Mantle facilities view showing sites and the spaces inside them
Facilities and spaces

Mantle begins with your facilities: sites, and the rooms, benches, freezers and storage inside them. Everything else hangs off that skeleton, because "we have four litres of it" is only useful once you know which room it is in.

Spaces nest as deeply as your building actually does, so the model matches the place rather than forcing the place to match the software.

Sites contain spaces, spaces contain storage — nested as far down as you need.
Chapter 02

A catalog of what a thing is

The Mantle inventory catalog listing items with identifiers and vendors
The catalog

Then the catalog: one entry per material, reagent, consumable or instrument, with the identity that never changes — what it is, who supplies it, the catalog and lot identifiers, the handling and hazard information.

One definition, referenced everywhere. Rename it or correct its supplier once and every procedure that mentions it is correct too.

Sodium phosphate, dibasic catalog entry Vendor Catalog no. Grade Hazards
The definition of an item, kept in exactly one place.
Chapter 03

And a record of what you actually hold

Underneath each catalog entry sit the real containers: this bottle, in that freezer, with this much left and that expiry date. Consuming material during work draws down the container it came from.

Which makes the useful questions answerable — is there enough to run this method, where is it, and is any of it about to expire.

Quantities live on containers, not on the idea of the item.
Chapter 04

Procedures that are written, not filed

A Mantle procedure with its version history
A procedure and its versions

A procedure in Mantle is a living document with an ordered set of steps, drafted with AI assistance from your existing methods and notes, and edited by the people who run it.

Every revision is kept. You can see what the method said on the day it was run, what changed since, and who changed it — which is the part that matters when somebody asks later.

v1 superseded v2 superseded v3 in effect notes from each run feed the next revision
Nothing is overwritten — the history is the compliance record.
Chapter 05

Where the two halves meet

Procedure steps referencing inventory items, with notes captured against them
Steps, references and notes

This is the point of the whole thing. A step doesn't say "add buffer" as loose text — it references the catalog entry, the space, the equipment and the role responsible. The words in the method and the things in the building are the same records.

So running the procedure draws down real stock, notes attach to the step that produced them, and the next revision starts from what actually happened.

STEP 4 Dissolve in as buffer salt Lab 202 Analyst CATALOG ITEM 820 g in Freezer −20 SPACE Building 2 ROLE qualified staff
References, not free text — which is why a run can change stock and a note can change the method.

That is Mantle.

Facilities, inventory and procedures as one connected record, versioned end to end, so what is written and what is on the shelf stay in agreement.
